General Practice Assistants
As part of the wider team in general practice, General Practice Assistants provide a support role, carrying out administrative tasks, combined in some areas with certain clinical duties. They can help to free up GPs time and contribute to the smooth running of appointments, improving patients experience in the surgery.
Improving patient flow within surgery hours, increasing the time efficiency of appointments, and reduction of waiting times; supporting patient experience by ‘translating’ or reiterating information from the GP, reduce time spent by GPs on managing correspondence.

Care Navigators
Care Navigators provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query.
Care Navigators make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.
Our Care Navigators have undertaken additional training. Dr Rai and our Salaried GPs have requested that a brief description is given at the time of booking an appointment. This is to ensure you are booked with the correct clinician and enough time is allocated to you. This will always be treated confidentially. We will always endeavour to book you with your preferred clinician; however, this may not always be possible on the day and depending on your reason for a consultation, an appointment may be offered in 4 – 6 weeks if deemed non urgent.
